G2 Precision was founded in January 2016 by former Navy SEAL Garrett Golden and his friend Chris Gridley with a singular mission: to design and build the most accurate, reliable rifles in the world. What started as a collaboration between combat veterans has evolved into a firearms manufacturing company known for uncompromising quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and rifles that perform when it matters most.

Our Founders
Garrett Golden – Co-Founder
Garrett Golden is a former Navy SEAL and DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6) operator who served with distinction in Naval Special Warfare. His extensive combat experience and intimate knowledge of what works in the field drives every design decision at G2 Precision. Golden’s philosophy is simple: function over flash. Every rifle that leaves G2 Precision is personally inspected by Golden himself, ensuring that each build meets his exacting standards.
Golden’s friendship with Marcus Luttrell began during their service together at SDVT-1 (SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1) in Alpha Platoon in 2005. Years later, that shared history and mutual respect for precision weaponry led to a special collaboration: the iconic Team Never Quit Mk12CF Special Purpose Rifle, designed by Luttrell and Golden and built by G2 Precision.
Chris Gridley – Co-Founder
Chris Gridley co-founded G2 Precision alongside Garrett Golden, bringing his own expertise in firearms manufacturing and business operations. Together, Golden and Gridley built G2 Precision into a company that honors the warrior ethos while delivering cutting-edge firearms to professionals and enthusiasts alike.
The Birth of an Icon: Team Never Quit Mk12CF SPR
The rifle that put G2 Precision on the map was born from necessity and refined through experience. Retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell—author of Lone Survivor and one of the most recognized names in Special Operations—vividly recalls his Mk12 rifle staying close at hand during a harrowing firefight on the rocky terrain of Sawtalo Sar, Afghanistan. As he threw himself off cliffs and tumbled down shale-covered mountainsides, his rifle was always there when he landed.
That experience left an impression. When Luttrell returned to Texas after his retirement, he reconnected with his former SDVT-1 teammate Garrett Golden. Together, they set out to redesign the Mk12 Mod-1 SPR—a rifle beloved by Navy SEALs and Special Forces operators for its precision and reliability, but criticized for its weight (over 10 pounds fully configured).
The result was the Team Never Quit Mk12CF Special Purpose Rifle. By incorporating a lightweight Proof Research carbon fiber-reinforced barrel, mil-spec forged receivers, and carefully selected components, Luttrell and Golden created a rifle that retained all the accuracy and reliability of the original while shedding nearly four pounds. The Mk12CF SPR weighs just 6 pounds, 11 ounces—a game-changer for operators and shooters who need to carry their rifles for extended periods.
